Senior men's hockey
The senior men’s team has been on the rise over the last number of years. Despite not being eligible to compete in IIHF World Championship’s, due to the lack of ice facilities, the Association has been very active in ensuring that our players compete in some way. In 2017, the first Development Cup took place in Andorra. The Development Cup was the brainchild of IIHA President Aaron Guli. The Development Cup continues to grow and ‘develop’. In 2018, the Development Cup took place in Fussen, Germany, with the support of the German Ice Hockey Federation and the International Ice Hockey Federation.
Senior women's hockey
The Irish Ice Hockey Association are very fortunate to have a number of very dedicated lady players. Our female players have competed alongside their male counterparts at both junior and senior levels in the domestic league. In 2019, the IIHA saw the Sirens, the first ladies-only team enter the Cross Border Cup. In 2022 the senior women's team competed in the inaugural women's development cup in Kuwait city, Kuwait.
Junior hockey
The Irish Ice Hockey Association continues to develop our junior players through participation in the IIHA Saints, our National Development Team. A number of our junior players have represented Ireland in countries as distant as South Korea, Canada and the USA. Year on year we see our player standards improve and our competitiveness goes from strength to strength.
Officiating
The IIHA has a number of on-ice and off-ice officials, from referees to linesman, timekeeper to scorekeepers, and a number of volunteers give up their time to help and promote the sport of ice hockey here in Ireland.
