The IIHL inaugural season is coming to an end and we feel that this is a good time to reflect on our achievements and start preparing for the 2008-09 season and most importantly to update our members on our progress off the ice.

Firstly, congratulations to the Bulls A Team on taking home the silverware for both the A League Cup and the playoffs. We are all left wondering now who will be crowned the Development League champions in June and claim the prize. We wish the best of luck to all the teams. Thank you to all the volunteers who have given their time and energy in the running of the games.

The IIHA have been busy developing the foundations of our organisation. We have been working closely with the Irish Sports Council and have attained a new IIHA office at Sport HQ. The IIHA are currently working in conjunction with Sport Management Consultants and solicitors who specialise in Sports Law to improve structure and communications towards a strategic planning process. The goals of this process will target development, the product of the IIHL and to increase communication between IIHA and its members. Financial Statements have been prepared and audited by an external accountancy firm going back a number of years and will be available at the upcoming AGM in August. There are challenging times ahead and the workload will increase. Hopefully in the future there will be paid staff working for the IIHA but currently all roles are voluntary. We hope to be able to rely on members to assist us and we will be posting voluntary roles over the coming weeks on iiha.org. Please contact us if you feel you have the necessary skills for the positions.

We are aware that improvements need to be made going forward and value the feedback from clubs and members towards achieving this progress. To that end we would like to invite one representative from each of the IIHA registered clubs to attend a forum to discuss the IIHL 08/09 season at Sport HQ on May 10th at 2pm.
